11th Annual Feast of Our Blessed Mother

Sun had just risen from the valley when we met groups of volunteers actively converting the church compound to a festive atmosphere. They hung banners and flags, erected a 20 foot flag mast, hung balloons and decorated the walkways. Alter was a sea of flowers. All gathered to  celebrate the feast of our Blessed Mother at the Blue Army Shrine on the 24th of May 2009 for the eleventh year at Washington, New Jersey, USA.

This annual event was once again a great success with the Sri Lankan Catholic Choir of New York/ New Jersey singing beautiful hymns and elevating the hearts and souls of all Sri Lankans in prayer and worship. During This year celebration prayers were offered in all three major languages.

Event concluded after the procession and final blessing. Several hundreds of people who attended were deeply moved by the amazing décor, musical repertoire and original compositions of the choir. Many believed this memorable event has touched the hearts and souls of devotee’s for a long time. Our prayers and heartfelt thanks to the organizing committee, all the singers and musicians of the catholic choir and Frs. Sujith Tillekeratne, Edward Tissera, Robert Dhanaraj , Paul Ruge and staff of Blue Army Shrine for enabling this event to reach the pinnacle.

    • This celebration was such an appropriate event at this time - when our country is setting the foot on a voyage towards peace. The message came out in flying colours that all ethnic groups in our country should move forward to build our country and teach our children how to live in peace and harmony. The surmons were delivered in all three languages and the ceremony was attended by all ethnics of our beloved Sri Lanka... our goal under the foot of Our Blessed Mother remained the same. MAY OUR BLESSED MOTHER BLESS OUR COUNTRY AND ITS PEOPLE.

    • It is great to see that Srilankans are united and work together like this in this religious event. Specially at this moment of time where whole Srilankans are trying to unite and move foward..this event in USA is a good example..
